Manny Pacquiao already in tremendous shape early on in training camp
If anyone doubted Manny Pacquiao's commitment for his upcoming fight with Shane Mosley, you better think again. On Friday morning, Bob Arum gleefully praised about the incredible shape that Pacquiao is already in. Like a kid opening presents on Christmas morning, Arum spoke with Examiner.com and shared some details about Manny's current conditioning level.
"In the morning, he runs an hour and a half, including 45 minutes running up a mountain. In the afternoon, he's at the gym and he trains for three hours continuously." said the excited Bob Arum "Then, at night, he plays with his semi-pro basketball team and he plays the entire game, he never goes to the bench.
Pacquiao is almost 3 weeks into training camp and the comments about his conditioning level are very encouraging, especially compared to the early stages of his last fight camp heading into the November bout against Antonio Margarito. That training camp was marred with reports of Manny being sick, injured, and lacking commitment.
Pacquiao has maintained all along that he was going to train for Mosley like Shane was the toughest fighter he's ever faced. Arum's comments further reflect Manny's commitment to this fight and his respect for how dangerous he thinks Mosley really is.
However, if I were Mosley, I would be seriously concerned about the reports of Manny's conditioning level. Pacquiao already has the advantage over other fighters in conditioning. By all accounts of his current shape, he's on pace to come into the fight against Mosley in arguably the best shape he's ever been in. Which, could equate to a quick fight for a victorious PacMan.
